DeSantis Emerges Victorious in Debate, Haley's Popularity Surges: FiveThirtyEight/WaPo Poll Reveals

Republican Voters Favor Ron DeSantis After Debate

According to a recent poll, Republican voters who watched the first 2024 Republican Party presidential primary debate are now more likely to consider voting for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the party's nominee. This includes a higher consideration for DeSantis compared to former President Donald Trump. The poll also indicated that former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley gained significant support among the candidates.

DeSantis Leads Republican Nomination Race

According to a recent poll conducted by FiveThirtyEight/Washington Post/Ipsos, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is leading the race for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election with 29% of the vote. He is followed by Vivek Ramaswamy with 26% and Nikki Haley with 15%. Among GOP primary voters who said they would consider voting for each candidate, former President Donald Trump initially had the highest percentage at 66.2%. However, after choosing not to debate, his support dropped to 61.4%. DeSantis saw an increase in support from 63% to 67.5% after his performance, moving him to the top spot. Haley experienced the biggest increase, going from 30% to 47% support.

Ramaswamy Slightly Ahead in Debate Poll

According to a poll commissioned by the New York Post, viewers believed that Ramaswamy had a slight advantage over DeSantis in a recent debate. The poll, conducted by a Canadian-owned market research and analytics company, found that 23% of voters chose Ramaswamy as the winner, while 21% said DeSantis. Former Vice President Mike Pence received 11% of the votes.

DeSantis and Haley Lead in Favorability Ratings

According to a poll conducted by The Washington Post, Ron DeSantis had the highest overall favorable rating among the candidates, with 72.4%. He also had the highest net favorable rating at 47%. Nikki Haley saw a significant increase in her net favorable rating, going from 26% to 39%. On the other hand, Ro Khanna's net favorability decreased from 37% to 28%. Former President Donald Trump's net favorable rating dipped from 31% to 24%.

Tim Scott Has Lowest Unfavorable Rating

According to a recent poll, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) has the lowest unfavorable rating among the mentioned politicians, with only 23.2% of respondents viewing him unfavorably. Governor Ron DeSantis had the second lowest unfavorable rating at 26.8%. Scott also had the second best net favorable rating at 42%. However, when it comes to net favorability ratings among debate viewers, DeSantis received the highest ratings. His net favorability increased from +41 to +47, while Scott's decreased from +47 to +42. Other politicians mentioned in the poll include Nikki Haley, Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie, with varying levels of favorability and unfavorability ratings.

Low Interest in Trump's Interview

According to a poll, only 7% of Republican primary voters who did not watch the debate chose to watch Donald Trump's interview with Tucker Carlson instead. This option ranked lower than doing housework (11%) and watching something else on TV (29%). However, approximately 15 million people clicked and watched at least 2 seconds of the 45-minute interview. This number is higher than the roughly 13 million people who watched the debate live.
