The Primetime Emmy Awards and Creative Arts ceremony affected by strikes
The ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have impacted the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Creative Arts ceremony.
The 75th Emmy Awards rescheduled to January
The 75th Emmy Awards, typically held in September, have been rescheduled to January. The event will now take place at the newly renamed Peacock Theater at LA Live. This is the first time the awards show has been moved since 2001, following the September 11 attacks.
Postponement of Creative Arts ceremonies
Due to the labor strike involving the writers and actors unions and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the pre-taped Creative Arts ceremonies will be postponed until next year. Originally scheduled for January 6 and 7 at LA Live, the ceremonies will now be held on the same dates in the following year. An edited presentation of the ceremonies will be broadcast on January 13 on FXX.
Emmys pushed to January
The Emmys, originally planned for November, have been pushed to January and will coincide with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This decision was made due to concerns about ongoing negotiations between the AMPTP and the writers' union, as well as the lack of progress between SAG-AFTRA and the studios' trade association. The delay in the Emmys aims to provide more time for negotiations to take place.
Busy month for award shows in January 2024
In January 2024, both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards will take place. The Golden Globes are scheduled for January 7, while the Critics Choice Awards will be held on January 14. However, there is currently no information on how the conflicting dates will be resolved. The Academy Awards, on the other hand, are still set to occur on March 10, 2024.
Actor's union joins the WGA strike
The actor's union has unanimously voted to join the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. As a result, Hollywood has been shut down, and all scripted series, TV shows, and movie productions will be suspended until an agreement can be reached.
