In a recent congressional deposition, an FBI agent allegedly made false statements regarding the agency's involvement in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story on social media platforms.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) highlighted this revelation in the fourth edition of the "Facebook Files."
According to Jordan, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, internal Facebook communications suggest that FBI Special Agent Elvis Chan played a significant role in suppressing a scandalous story about alleged foreign business deals involving Joe Biden before the 2020 election. Jordan claims that Chan acted as the main link between the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force and major tech companies, such as Facebook, to suppress the story.
During testimony, a Facebook executive named Chan stated that the FBI had not communicated with the company apart from a meeting that took place on the same day the New York Post published an article about Joe Biden's laptop on October 14, 2020. However, according to Jordan, there was a secret follow-up call between Chan and Facebook the day after the meeting, which contradicts Chan's claim made during a deposition in the Missouri v. Biden case regarding government censorship.
According to documents released by Representative Jim Jordan, a federal agent spoke with a Facebook employee who claimed that a person named Chan was aware of the current state of an FBI matter. The Facebook employee also stated that Chan mentioned there was no evidence to suggest any foreign connection to the leaks.
According to Representative Jim Jordan, there is evidence that the laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden is real and that the FBI was aware of it. He also suggests that the Biden Department of Justice has been uncooperative in allowing the Committee to interview Agent Chan. Internal documents reportedly reveal that Chan admitted to being instructed by Laura Dehmlow, the Section Chief of the Foreign Influence Task Force, to respond with "no comment" when asked about the authenticity of the Biden laptop.
According to Jordan, a key member of the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force, both Dehmlow and other members of the task force were aware that the laptop in question, which was linked to Hunter Biden, was real and in the possession of the FBI. However, the FBI chose to remain silent and not comment on the matter. This information is part of a series called "The Facebook Files" and raises questions about the FBI's handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Internal Facebook documents have revealed that an FBI Special Agent provided false testimony regarding the FBI's involvement in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story. This information was shared by Rep. Jim Jordan on Twitter. Additionally, last year, Elon Musk released the "Twitter Files," which showed that FBI agent Chan frequently urged Twitter to remove posts that he believed violated the platform's terms of service. This suggests the FBI's involvement in content moderation tactics for private companies.
On the evening of October 13, an individual named Chan sent ten documents to Yoel Roth, the former Head of Site Integrity at Twitter. The sender specifically mentioned that the documents were not spam and requested Roth to confirm their receipt. This incident occurred just hours before an article by the New York Post was set to be released.
The Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) has been accused of obstructing the efforts of a committee to interview Agent Chan. Representative Jordan expressed his frustration with the DOJ's lack of cooperation and stated that the investigation is ongoing. He also mentioned that they will continue to update the public with their findings and work on legislation to combat censorship and protect the First Amendment.
Jordan, a journalist, has released the third edition of the "Facebook Files," claiming that the Biden administration exerted pressure on Facebook to suppress certain speech that they disagreed with. This allegedly involved limiting the reach of The Daily Wire, a conservative news outlet, on the platform, while simultaneously boosting the reach of traditional media outlets.
