Report: Biden Administration Quietly Selling Parts Intended for Border Wall

According to a report from The New York Post, the Biden administration has been quietly selling parts that were originally intended for extending the wall along the southern border. An online auction house called GovPlanet has already sold over 80 steel parts, making approximately $2 million since April. It is expected that more lots will be auctioned off later this month.

Critics argue that the administration is getting rid of these unused parts before House Republicans can pass a bill that would require their use in extending the border wall.

Republican Senators Criticize Biden Administration

The Democrat-controlled Senate recently passed a defense appropriations package that included a Republican-sponsored bill aimed at addressing the border crisis by extending the wall. Republican senators criticized the Biden administration for allegedly selling parts for the extended border wall while illegal immigrants continue to enter the country through the southern border.

Senators James Lankford and Roger Wicker have criticized President Biden's decision to halt construction of the border wall, arguing that the funds generated from selling the materials will not be sufficient to compensate families affected by criminal acts committed by individuals who crossed the border during the Biden administration. Sen. Wicker co-sponsored a bill called the "Finish It Act" and called Biden's move "outrageous, behind-the-scenes maneuvering."

Wasteful and Ludicrous

The Biden administration's decision to sell military equipment has been criticized by Senator Wicker as wasteful and ludicrous. The GovPlanet auction schedule has seen a significant increase in May after Senator Wicker introduced the Finish It Act and again after the Senate passed the defense package. The bill now needs to be passed by House Republicans before it becomes law.

Abandoned Parts and Illegal Immigration

Republicans claim that approximately $300 million worth of taxpayer-funded border wall parts have been abandoned since President Biden took office. The unused parts are reportedly being sold, and the proceeds are said to be going back to the Pentagon.

According to a report, materials that were originally intended for the border wall are being sold by GovPlanet, although they are not allowed to mention it due to legal reasons. The report also highlights the increase in illegal immigration since President Joe Biden took office, with estimates exceeding five million. Data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows that there have been over 1.9 million southwest land border encounters in the current fiscal year.
