Survey Shows Young Americans Call for Primary Challenge to Biden Amid Declining Approval Ratings

Young People Believe President Biden Should Face Primary Challenge

According to a recent survey conducted by Echelon Insights and commissioned by the Young America's Foundation (YAF), a majority of young people believe that President Joe Biden should face a primary challenge. The survey, which included 1,650 high school and college students, aimed to gather their opinions on various political and social matters. The findings indicate that President Biden's popularity among young people is declining.

Support for Primary Challenge

The survey revealed that 56% of high school students and 61% of college students believe that President Joe Biden should face a serious primary challenge. These numbers increase among liberal-leaning students, with 68% of liberal high school students and 62% of liberal college students supporting the idea. Currently, Biden is being challenged by Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Notably, Kennedy Jr. has garnered up to 20% support from Democrats in certain polls.

Decline in Approval Ratings

The approval ratings of the president have significantly decreased among both high school students and college students. Among high school students, his approval rating has dropped from 58% to 33%, while the disapproval rating has increased from 29% to 47%. Similarly, among college students, the president's approval rating has decreased from 62% to 38%, while the disapproval rating has jumped from 28% to 51%. These findings suggest a decline in support for the president among young people.

Economic Concerns and School Safety

The survey found that the economy is a major concern for both college and high school students. However, high school students are slightly more worried about school safety compared to economic issues. The survey also found that topics such as race relations, immigration, and political corruption are considered less important by both groups of students.

Support for Age Restrictions

A majority of college students support the idea of setting a maximum age for presidential candidates, according to a recent survey. Nearly three-fourths of the students surveyed expressed their support for age restrictions. The preferred age range for the maximum age was between 60 and 69 years old.

Political Ideologies

According to a survey, only 19% of high school students and 21% of college students identify as conservative or somewhat conservative. The majority of students, both in high school and college, consider themselves moderate, with 33% of high school students and 32% of college students falling into this category.
