Former President Donald Trump and his personal aide, Walt Nauta, have pleaded not guilty to new federal charges. The charges were brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in a classified documents superseding the indictment. Trump, who already faced over 40 charges, now faces one additional count of willful retention of national defense information and two additional obstruction counts. Trump entered his plea deal through his attorneys and waived his right to make an in-person appearance in court.

Former President Donald Trump's security director, Stuart Nauta, has been charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements. He later became Trump's executive assistant and served as his personal aide. Another individual, Carlos De Oliveira, who manages Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort property, also appeared in court but did not enter a plea as he has not yet secured legal counsel licensed to practice in Florida.
Co-Defendant Accused of Assisting in Concealment
De Oliveira has been implicated in a case involving the concealment of security camera footage and the movement of classified material at Trump's Mar-a-Lago property. He has been named a co-defendant and is accused of assisting Nauta in these activities after the Department of Justice issued a subpoena for the materials.
Arraignment and Trial Date Set
Three defendants appeared in court for their arraignment in the Fort Pierce federal courthouse. The trial is set to take place in May 2024. The defendants are accused of storing classified information related to defense and weapons capabilities of the US and foreign countries, US nuclear programs, vulnerabilities to military attack, and plans for retaliation in case of a foreign attack.
